Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Checkers app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Checkers ("the app", "we", "us") is a draughts game for Android and iOS. We designed it to work without an account, so you can play without giving us your name, email address or any other personal details. This policy describes the limited information that is handled when you use the app.

This policy applies to all users of the app, on both Android and iOS. The data practices described below are the same on either platform, with platform-specific controls called out where they differ (see Section 2 for advertising choices).

1. Information we collect

We do not operate our own servers and we do not ask you to register. The information below is either stored on your device or handled by third-party services that make the app work.

Type What it is Where it lives
Game settings Board and piece style, theme, sound, your chosen ruleset, side, clock and difficulty, and which levels you have unlocked. On your device only.
Game history A record of finished games (ruleset, difficulty and result) used for the stats screen. On your device only.
Advertising data Device and advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address, and ad interaction data, collected by Google AdMob to serve ads. Collected by Google LLC (see below).

We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, files or messages, and the app does not access a camera or microphone.

2. Advertising

The app shows banner advertisements supplied by Google AdMob to keep it free. Google and its partners may use device identifiers, such as the Advertising ID on Android or the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS, together with information about your device and ad interactions, to serve and measure ads. This may include personalised advertising where you have consented to it.

You can learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your choices over personalised advertising include:

Ads in the app begin only after you have opened it a few times, so a brand new install is not shown advertising immediately.

3. How the information is used

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. The only sharing that takes place is the data collected by Google AdMob, described above, which is governed by Google's own policies. We may disclose information if required to do so by law.

5. Data retention and deletion

Settings, saved games and history stay on your device until you remove them. You can clear everything from the app's settings screen, or by uninstalling the app. Because we do not hold this data on our servers, there is nothing further to request from us. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, please use the Google controls linked above.

6. Children's privacy

Checkers is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us so we can help resolve it.

7. Security

Data on your device is protected by the operating system's sandbox. Information sent to advertising providers is transmitted over secured connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep our handling of data to the minimum the app needs.

8. International users

Advertising providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, consent for personalised advertising is requested through the platform's consent mechanisms. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another region with data protection laws, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
